After a Tuesday audition (and having been asked to sing both Meg pieces-- in ADDITION to female reporter Gloria Thorpe's (the third female lead's) show stopping number), as well as a vigorous dance call-back/double role call-backs for BOTH Meg and Gloria (who knew?! Cause *I* SURE AS HELL DIDN'T), casting was officially posted in all it's finality [or so we thought] yesterday break...
Name Number Part
Angela Griswold 25 Gloria Thorpe

~ As stated within our first table reads character description: "A probing, independent, and flirtatious sportswriter that covers the Washington Senators for the local newspaper."
I'm bold.
I'm curious (or, as some would more boldly put it: obnoxious).
I'm saucy and quick-witted.
I tool around with THE DEVIL.
I'm an insanely intense dancer.
And almost everybody hates me.
I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

Because, if you miss the chance to perform at you utmost best during an audition and/or your full potential is yet to be seen - saaaaaaay... within MTOC's Seussical, for example - you almost always, ALWAYS manage to find a second chance. And, whence you nail your pre-lim, obtain a call back, and survive numerous cuts before making to down to that of the last five girls, do you know what's soon to follow?
YOU GET CAST IN THE ROLE OF "BIRD GIRL".
That's right. I, Angela Griswold, have officially been cast (as of Sunday) as Bird Girl #1. My summer? Now 100% booked in it's entirety.
Boo-freakin'-yah. XD

I had thought my call-back to have gone very, VERY well; having only but 10 minutes to split into harmonies, dance (once again - despite that of a pulled hamstring), and choose our own specific characterization... apparently, I was very, VERY mistaken:
Who Ensemble - Angela Griswold
I am still very honored to even be considered as an ensemble of such a wonderful team, and would be perfectly content to play that of a smaller role, it's just... I dunno', I-- I just... don't wanna' miss out on a bigger opportunity. And yet, my dad and his girlfriend like to think that I merely am not accepting of an ensemble role.
I don't even know how to explain it to them...!
If anyone has ANY information on other auditions - before making my decision, of course - let me know.

5:55 PM: I arrived at the church (yeah - they were held... at a church), filled out my application, turned in an extra copy of my Sisters Rosensweig head shot - though without braces; thank GOD for Kinko's! - and received my lucky call number: 49.
6:00 - 6:55 PM: As they called in the first round of boys/girls to sing their pieces before the creative team, the rest of us were crowded within the church's main courtyard. We were taught, by both the choreographer, Allison, her daughter, and several other older girls our pre-lim. dance routine (set to that of "Biggest Blame Fool"). After running it more than a few HUNDRED times, numbers 46-54 were beckoned at last...!
7:00 - ? PM: Performed my piece (again: "All Grown Up", from Bare), along with the other children/adults (calls were that of anyone ages 8-25) called in beside me. I am pleased to say that I did quite well, though - when dancing... I blanked and forgot several large chunks of the routine. FUCK. But, I managed to play it off well enough that, after two hours waiting...
I GOT A CALLBACK FOR ONE OF "THE BIRD GIRLS".
Whut, whut. XD
Lol - though it wasn't for the role that I had initially hoped for (Gertrude McFuzz)... still-- I'm just so incredibly happy to (perhaps) be a part of such a wonderful team of both directors and actors!! And - being fourteen, and this my first attempt at any musical theater production outside of school WHATSOEVER: it's a pretty meaty part, and I only hope to dazzle them even more tomorrow (6 o'clock)!! Perhaps they'll even consider me for a deeper, higher role... XP Again-- wish me luck!!!!

I GOT A CALLBACK FOR VOCAL ENSEMBLE.

Had Pick-Up Stix today which, might I say, was quite delish'! Umm... read more (well, listened to more: it's a book on tape) of Romeo and Juliet in 6th period - we started on Friday. OMFG, Marcutio? Yeah. Pretty much my most favorite character. The end.
Listened to more Bare - loverly! Duh... oh, there was a Thespian/Drama Club meeting at lunch today! (I regret to inform you all that I dropped out of Comedy/Improv; details to follow) We put together several small elections for next year's club leaders; I was nominated for Vice President. Boo-yah.
Comedy/Improv: My reason for leaving the group??? One word: unprepared. Comedy night was to be this Friday. We hadn't even begun to work on our skits and, as always, countless people had other arrangements - therefore, causing them to miss both lunch and after-school rehearsals. Truly... it was just entirely unprofessional. Besides: they had already decided to kick me out this afternoon. The reason? Because I had chosen to attend the Thespian meeting today instead of Comedy. That, and because I missed yesterday's (and I quote) "rehearsal". I HAD A FUCKING DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT PEOPLE. And yet, they still dared to state that I had yet to "sort out my priorities". Whatever...
Performed our scene (me, Shayla, Amanda, Christine, and Emma) in Theatre 1 today. Ya' know what? I'm, uh... I'm just gonna' leave it at that. Lol. Reviewing Algebra in Geometry. Praise baby Jesus-- something I ACTUALLY understand!! Frog dissections soon to follow in Biology... ugggggghhhh. Lunch = gloriously funny times! :]
AMANDA: (deep within our current conversation of breakfast cereals) I love Frosted Mini-Wheats! They keep me focused...! Except, a couple days ago, my mom bought these Mini-Wheats that are, like... HUGE. And she's all, "Well, they were on sale for $1.50," and I was like, "But they're SO BIG!!" I said, "I don't care, you buy the bite-sized ones!!" ... I put her in her place.

(While waiting backstage to perform our scene, the gals and I were messing around, Shayla wanting to test the infamous "clap your hand while I pretend to slap you" acting trick. After performing it on me, I turned to her:)
ME: Did you know that in Spring Awakening, they ACTUALLY slap the kids!
SHAYLA: (raising an eyebrow) Really?!
ME: Yeah. When one of the girls (Wendla) gets slapped, her mother really slaps her - and the boy (Moritz) is slapped three times in a row by the man who plays his father. REALLY slapped.
SHAYLA: Wow...
AMANDA: That's crazy...! I would've been up on stage like, "(touching her cheek) Ow... *fake sobs* (then, waggling her finger in a 40's manner and jigging) Mama don't beat meeeeeeeeee... I'm a-gettin' away from yoooooooooooooou!"
***
MILLER: (as the story was forced out of her by Alyssa) You see... I used to have this favorite sweater. It was, like, blue-- and the zipper said NY, cause my dad had bought it in New York and stuff, and - my mom, being stupid, put in the wash and it got, like... bleach spots on it; it actually looked pretty tight! Like, there was sorta like... pink, I guess on the hood and other parts of the sweater, so I was all, "Oh, cool!" It was just-- I loved that sweater. And so one day, when my mom was pregnant... although she... didn't know it... at the time-- anyways, we were on this plane to Thailand, and my mom had had half of an ice cream sandwich - mind you, it was HALF - and I had had eight and a half. Cause the flight attendant would come back and be like, "You guys want some more?" And I was all, "Yeaaaaaah, bring it on!!" I was nine at the time, so... anyways, so all though she only had half, when we landed my mom was like, "UGHHHHH... I don't feel so good. (miming about to barf) Mmh! Mmh!" And I was like, "Mom are you-- no, no, no, NO!" "BLEEEEEECH!!!" And she just... right on my favorite sweater. I mean, it was blue... and it was warm... I had no others, just... and she was all, "I'm sssssssso sorry, I'll buy you a new one!" But she never did... my favorite sweater. (as we're laughing, trying to remain serious) And it got PUKED ON!! ... Dude, my mom's a fucking butt-wipe.
Such is the madness that is my life! Lol.

1. As asked by Shayla's auntie Vivienne, Shay and I headed on down to the local Fullerton Sports Center to help in selling snacks at the high school league baseball game. (Padres VS ? - lol, we were rootin' for the Padres, sooo...) Unfortunately, we discovered upon arrival that you had to be 16 in order to work the counter, despite the fact that the manager's own NINE YEAR OLD daughter and several fourteen year old kids whom previously attended our junior high were both handling money and food. But whatev's; instead, Viv had us watch after her own two kids (Johnson, 11, and Jolie, 6) and Shayla's lil' bro Keathan (9) throughout the day/game as she sold. She even PAID us for it! Hells yes. Truly - Vivienne was wonderful, as were her kids. They didn't get into too much trouble, though a few kids who were dishing it to them got a mouthful from us, I'll tell ya' that much!! Lol. Really, it was a blast!
2. #33 and #34 (whom we later discovered was named Jeff)?! GORGEOUS. COULDN'T KEEP THEIR EYES OFF US. (Or rather, the other way around!) End of story.
3. My God... I just discovered Bare this afternoon. Two words: Brilliantly. Heart-breaking. A Catholic cross between RENT and Spring Awakening just... not as good. XP But still-- it's breathtaking. And woot, woot for Matt Doyle as Peter in the studio recording!!!! Can you say "fabulous"?!
4. Ate at Sizzler's for lunch. YUM. Finished up my Geometry project. *BARF* Talked to some old buds today, which was nice. Downloaded The Little Mermaid Broadway soundtrack, as well as Bare (obviously), The Producers, [title of show], and several songs from Candide. Was gonna' see Iron Man, but my dad and Ali got into a huge argument, leaving Ali and Tyler to rush off mysteriously-- only to view the movie themselves. It was a bummer, but hey - I may head on down to D*sneyland Friday, which more than makes up for it. Hands down.
5. Call backs list posted tomorrow... PRAY FOR ME!!
6. I apologize for such a short, rushed update! ... And - truly - I have no idea why I've been such a huge fan of lists lately. I just have, so... there. *Shrugs*

The Spring Musical auditions for On the Twentieth Century were yesterday (and today), and I felt sooooo overjoyed after my performance! I sang "Out of My Dreams" from Oklahoma!, and Mr. McDougal (The voice teacher) made me sing it 2 OCTIVES HIGHER. I hafta' say... I sounded pretty amazing!!
During the dance part of the audition, I did... all right, although my tap was seriously sucky fung (long story). But then, when we were being called in to read for parts, I totally made up for my horrible dance routine!! And...............
I GOT A CALL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT! Actually, I got more than one!! I got an individual call back for the role I tried out for ("Mildred", a.k.a Lily), one for one of the female leads in the show (Letitia Peabody Primrose), and several others for supporting roles. And I'm only a FRESHMAN!!
First The Sisters Rosensweig, and now this?! God, I hope I deliver!!!!
PS: Our Team Cabaret performance is THIS THURSDAY! It's truly amazing!! :DDD
PSS: Only 1 more week until Christmas!!!!!!!!! And just 3 more days until Christmas break! Hoorah!
