Has anyone read this article: http://jezebel.com/5062161/sleeping-beauty-may-be-safe-but-ariel-has-some-explaining-to-do ?

Ariel isn't my favorite Princess, but it still kind of bothered me. I think the author twisted a lot around to make her point. I don't think Ariel gave up her world for Eric. She always wanted to be part of the human world, Eric was just her way of getting there, and a happy bonus. She was obsessed with humans before she ever saw Eric. And I like to think that if Eric had turned out to be an idiot, or mean or she didn't love him or whatever, she would have left him and still loved being a human.

And don't even get me started on the whole Ursula part...

There's a few half-assed reviews here pretty much because I was in a hurry. Oh well, I made sure I did the best ones first. Comment, let me know what you think.

Coheed and Cambria?

  • Oct. 15th, 2008 at 7:43 PM
Hello wonderful NYers... I do not myself live in New York (Actually I am from New Hampshire), but I will be making a trip to NYC this coming week.

However, I am going for a couple of Coheed and Cambria concerts and I have two extra tickets. The show is NEXT Wednesday October 22nd and they will be playing all of Second Stage Turbine Blade. I have tried to sell these tickets on ebay, Coheeds LJ community and Coheeds message board and whenever I find someone they flake out. I really just don't want these two tickets to go to waste, plus I want my money back.

The tickets are for Wednesday 10/22/08, at Terminal 5 in NYC and are $37 a piece (what I paid + shipping). I will accept PayPal. We can figure out how you'd like the tickets (mailed to you, given at date of show [in which case I would accept payment at exchange], ect...)

Just let me know via comment, or drop me an email at cie3@unh.edu

Thanks!

'Tis a link to my wanted ad for a pair of women's white cowboy boots, size 9. Anyone got a pair they don't want anymore? Or seen them in any thrift shop and could point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Coffee shops

  • Oct. 15th, 2008 at 9:54 AM
I'm looking for recommendations for good coffee shops in Manhattan that offer good coffee, maybe something to snack on, and plenty of seating so that I can sit for a few hours without taking up coveted space. I don't need Wi-Fi, and I'd prefer a place that's relatively quiet and won't be too crowded on a Thursday or Friday afternoon. Starbucks doesn't do it for me, so anything other than that works.

Location is mostly unimportant. I'm mostly familiar with downtown neighborhoods but would be willing to explore other areas. I'm staying on 53rd and 3rd, so something close to there that would be open late (midnight or later) would be a good option to have on hand as well.

And if anyone knows of any non-coffee shop places that people go to sit and write, please share. I'm open to suggestions.
